Welcome to our EYFS where your child's journey begins!

At St John Fisher RC Primary School we welcome all new children and their families into the St John Fisher Family and for most this journey starts in the EYFS.

We strive to make learning interesting, engaging and fun and welcome all children as a unique person with their own individual talents, gifts and skills. We want to help them to discover those talents, gifts and skills so that they can become confident, happy children who love learning.

We have an amazing EYFS Department and our outdoor area has been completely redesigned and provides a fantastic space for our children to learn, play and explore.

Our Nursery offers both part time and full time places.

Curriculum Intent

Curriculum Statement for Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) - September 2021/2022

At St John Fisher, provision is tailored to your child's interests and needs.  This ensures your child has the best start in life.

In Early Years we are active learners who love to play, explore and demonstrate our ability to create and think critically.

We plan learning opportunities based on children’s interests which ensures that children enjoy their learning.

Your child will learn in whole class, group sessions and through child-initiated activities. Both indoor and outdoor continuous provision is delivered in an environment where your child can explore and flourish as an active learner. Our focus is on skill-based learning where enhancements are added according to your child’s stage of development.

Your child will be encouraged to explore the seven areas of learning independently, building on the characteristics of learning and their reasoning / problem solving skills.

At St John Fisher we follow the statutory Early Years Foundation Stage framework (EYFS), and assess formatively in an on-going process via an online learning journal, Tapestry. We ensure that we see the best of your child and all of the amazing talents they have to offer.

We value every child as an individual, who we place at the centre of everything we do, and every decision we make.
